Let’s take a real “dip” into the influence of the Analogue Update with a big ol’ vat of chocolaty goodness - all puns intended. Chocolate has many uses other than munching on during times of great elation (or depression). It’s been repurposed a million times over in the pursuit of changing the way we think about objects of desire, fetish, tradition, folklore and consumption . And the fact that it tastes amazing doesn’t hurt its’ cause. Over the years we’ve seen the traditional (chocolate bunnies) to the not-so-traditional (a pair of chocolate Nike sneakers) take center stage in the world of food, but never have we seen a chocolate record . . . that actually plays music!
Scottish band, FOUND are creating a limited edition 7” chocolate record that will play their new single Anti Climb paint, off of the bands latest album factorycraft out now on Chemikal Records out of the UK. For the creation of the “sweet” jam, the band joined forces with local Cupar, Fife bakers, Fisher & Donaldson's bakery. An accompanying music video lovingly displays the creation of said record:
This is a melding of analogue wishes with modern daydreams. When something like this comes to the table, even the stodgiest amongst us can’t help but have a wet palate.
