We’ve all been privy to the wonders of smart phone technology for sometime. But how many amongst us can say we’ve delved into the possibility of smart shoes? Yes, there have been some meager, albeit spirited, attempts at incorporating data tracking technology into footwear, but the buck has stopped at calculating distance and altering firmness and cushion support for the foot itself. That’s shortsighted thinking. But Adidas has always seen the future, and it’s lined in numbers.
So, it comes as no surprise that the footwear brand has crafted a new soccer boot with a virtual, on-board coach built into the sole of it. Dubbed The Adizero f50, this high tech boot is integrated with Adidas’ popular miCoach, the USB synced online coaching app. Normally worn as an armband, miCoach tracks workouts and progress via a series of sensors and that data is collected and uploaded online immediately, compared and contrasted, then delivered back to the user giving them pointers and tips on how to improve their game.
