Everyone needs a soundtrack. It’s the reason the Sony Walkman was created. So why haven’t we figured out a way to make our own soundtrack while on the go? Or at the very least, get a little motivation out of our jaunt? Well, it’s because we’ve secretly been waiting for a crack team of designers - say a Dutch trio for example – to create a product so silly and cool and inspiring that it catches our attention and makes us desire ownership.

Feats Per Minute is a project that takes the classic and classically cheap German Alpina bike and attaches two record players to the wheels, subsequently creating a new sound collage-cum-transport vehicle. Take a look:

The name, while a tad corny, invokes the idea that in order to hear your favorite dance track correctly (i.e. at the right speed), you’d have to keep pedaling up at a certain speed or else it’ll all sound like sludge. So basically, unless you want to seem like a loud, lazy, drunken fool, keep those feet moving.

This is about as bare bones and low-tech as it comes in terms of mixing media (sports, design and music), so our hats go off to the FPM gang.

They’ve stumbled upon the sound of the Analogue Update.
