Tweeding. What is it?
Is it 'Tweeting' for less pedantic, self-important individuals? No, not even remotely close. Ok, give up? Well, I’ll hint you this much: it’s pretty damn British.
In 2009 Ted Young-Ing founded The Tweed Run, a gathering and subsequent bike ride (comprised of vintage-loving, classically dapper men and women), throughout the streets of London. The ride, a 10-mile leisurely jaunt, has gain immense popularity over the last few years and now is making it’s way over to American shores, thanks to a very smart, opportunistic brand: Rugby Ralph Lauren. October 15th, 2011, The RL brand variant, a younger line that promotes the collegiate, tweedy, rustic elegance of times of yore, is aligning themselves with a seemingly perfect match. The ride itself is to raise funds for World Bicycle Relief whose mission is to provide access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles. Two gender-equalizing promo videos (because girls can 'tweed' with the boys any day), have just been launched which display the simple life where things are charmingly itchy in all the right ways.
