Personalization. It’s been factored into every media design innovation for the last half-decade. With the advent of app tech, we as a global society are moving closer and closer towards a center facing, curated and very personalized view of the world. There are however newcomers that take an Analogue Update approach to the proceedings, and the results are spellbinding. Introducing Little Printer: The world’s first personalized newspaper printer.
Humans Invent provides the breakdown:
The ‘Little Printer’ holds a compact, inkless, thermal printer, which has zero-configuration wireless connection to the Web (via the Bridge unit, included), allowing you to place it wherever you have a power outlet in your home or office. It’s constructed in high-gloss injected molded plastic, while a brushed steel faceplate holds the paper, framing each delivery as it prints.
Everything is engaged through your Smartphone with the printer’s software allowing you to connect to the web with a wide range of sources – what the Little Printer calls publications. These could be your favorite newspaper columnists for that day, two or three different social networks that includes the latest gossip and news from your friends, your daily ‘To Do’ lists, and even puzzles and other interesting findings from around the web.
Arguments for and against the further developments of personalized news and media have been lobbed into the air and we’re still waiting to see how they’ll fall. Needless to say, it’s being closely followed.
