A new documentary profiling the last remaining vinyl record shop in Teesside, North East England, is coming to a theater near you. Debuting at SXSW this year to warm reception, Sound It Out by director Jeanie Finlay, captures the quiet defiance said shop exhibits in a time of flux and uncertainty. The very human aspect of cultural language shifting its means of dialogue is brilliantly captured within the frame of this film

Tactile vehicles of cultural communication have been slowly slipping into extinction for some time, all the while the digital abundance of information continues to stack up, suffocating all receptive paths. This is a look into a cultural touch point that will soon be no more. This deserves attention.

This Saturday, 4/16/11 marks international Record Store Day. If this trailer doesn’t awake your inner music geek and get you out to your local shop, you may need to get your heart checked.
